Are Cell Phones Replacing Traditional Phones?

By Tell Lockhart

A lot of people have chosen to get rid of their traditional phone and only use a cell phone service. People have paid two phone providers for years, but you really don't need to do that today. Why do you need the old phone connected to the wall when everyone in the family has a cell phone?

You can always be available to take a call since most folks keep their cell phone with them. Perhaps the only argument for having a traditional phone would be in the case where you might not be able to get a cell phone signal, such as during an electrical outage or a storm. Most people are not afraid to take that chance.

When you begin to think about getting a cell phone, you need to choose which company and phone model you prefer. All the competing offers can confuse you and the carrier you want may not have the phone you like. It can be hard to get the phone you want with the specific service you desire.

No cell phone manufacturer will sell their cell phones to every company, often times they have select few that they will sell to. For some people, choosing the carrier that they prefer is based on what kind of cell phone brands they carry while others will choose a carrier based on the plans that they offer. It just depends on your preference. Sometimes you will be able to find a carrier that has both, but this happens rarely.

If your search takes you to a shopping mall, you will likely see a variety of kiosks representing different cell phone companies. You might even see the same phone company at more than one location. The competition for new customers is brutal, buy when you talk to the representative you may find the company doesn't have many different plans. They should try to individualize their service to give you what you want rather than offer you a standard plan.

If you've always wanted to be different from others, then here's a way you can achieve that sense of distinction. Everyone you know has a cell phone, maybe it is an iPhone. Stand out from the crowd when your phone rings with some of these amazing ring tones that are based on cool and quirky sound effects.

If you're a Formula 1 fan then you're going to love this ringtone with the wheels burning while the F1 car races on the track. Or you could startle someone with the sound of water falling; it is real funny when you hear it.

You could get into some serious trouble with this ringtone if you're at the airport, so you should be careful with it because this one's got the sounds of a machine gun or an AK 47 ripping out of your iPhone!

Have angry cats compete for your attention every time your phone rings, or fire sirens crying out in agony or so it seems! You could even get a few frowns at the sound of a nice sloppy kiss each time your whip out your iPhone to answer your calls!

For those with a sense of toilet humor, there are plenty of sounds here which are not palatable to the regular user, so I will spare the details. But you can be sure that there are sounds of flushing and other bodily sounds which could send those who love these kind of things into paroxysm of laughter.

Burglar alarms, train sounds, nuclear weapon warnings and the music of birds are just a few of the sounds that you can download for your iPhone. Preview them by clicking on the listen option and then download them to your computer. After that you can sync your iPhone through iTunes and transfer them as required.

Why Utilize a Broadband Connection

By Edward Dantes

With the World Wide Web becoming such a big service nowadays to small-time companies, you ought to benefit from the broadband service to get your company name out there. Not only are you giving your business the opportunity to experience a big boost financially, but you are also giving your business to become a recognized brand.

Using a dial-up service is okay, however if you really want a big break, then avail of a broadband service to make it possible.

Using Phone and Internet Lines Simultaneously

With a dial-up service, you should not use your phone line to make a call while you are surfing the net, but with a broadband service, you can use the phone and Internet lines at the same time.

If you are surfing the Internet and are making use of the dial-up, then you might miss an important call because the person on the other line will get a busy tone since the voice and data lines are passing through a single avenue. With a broadband, you no longer have to miss these significant calls because the phone and data lines are separated.

Numerous Computers on One Line

Another reason why companies are utilizing the broadband service is that they get to save cash because all their computers can use a single broadband line. Putting it up is also easier.

With a dial-up, however, every computer must have its own telephone line and dial-up connection so as to connect to the Internet. Again, this is far more expensive, especially if you have a small company, and a time-consuming effort when setting it up.

Higher Speed and Increased Reliability

Of course, as a business proprietor, you would want to be able to connect to the World Wide Web quickly. With a broadband connection, you have this advantage because your Internet service is always on. The instant you switch on your computer, you are automatically logged into the Internet and can start using it right away.

In addition to this, you need not worry that your Internet will always get disconnected because your broadband is utilizing a digital connection, unlike the dial-up which makes use of a pulse rate, thus, the tendency of the dial-up to repeatedly get disconnected.

With a dial-up, also, you must wait for the server to hook you up to the Internet, and if the server continues to decline the attempts to connect, then you are losing so much time and money.

Finally, a broadband connection provides more speed than a dial-up.

Simple Ways to Catch Prank Callers

By Harry Constantine

Anonymous pest callers, can be more than just annoying for many people. In fact, often these calls can create a sense of paranoia and panic, particularly when the victim feels singled out, or is vulnerable and alone.

They also destroy our lives and deprive us of peace and quiet, and often good nights' sleep too.

What's the solution to these prank callers?

One option is a PI, aka the private investigator. They may be able to help you stop the calls, or even find out who's making them and get it stopped.

However, such a service can be very expensive.

You could also try doing a reverse phone lookup at one of the many free sites available, but most of these prank callers don't use public landline numbers - and sadly free services only give details of land line numbers, not cell phones.

There are specialized services now available online which do provide you with the right information, including cell phones. Finding the right service is the key to stopping these people in their tracks, otherwise you may end up with the wrong info or not enough information to get some form of action taken against these callers.

Once you have the information...

There are lots of steps you can take once you have the info to hand. You could try and freak them out by calling them by their first name, or perhaps making reference to where they live.

A more recommended option is to approach the police or to file a harassment complaint. Most of the time, it will never reach this stage, but by having this sort of info to hand, you have options.

Just remember - if you want to stop pest callers, you need information - and the best place to get that information is through a specialized phone database which contains full details of cell phones and land lines across the US, so you will be sure to catch your wise crack caller before you lose another nights' sleep again...

All you need to do is fix your iPhone with some fantastic dance rigntones and every time your phone rings you can step it up and dance! You don't just have to dance at a party, you can hot-step away at the bus stop if you'd like to!

You can guide that Ken to sweep you off your feet, with the late nineties 'I'm a Barbie girl' song as a ringtone for your iPhone. You'll find some really cool dance numbers from awesome artists like Snoop Dogg and Shakira.

There are plenty of choices on this website, particularly in this section, where you can choose your favorite ringtone by listening to it first and then downloading it on your computer and then transferring it to your iPhone via iTunes.

You'll find some timeless haunting favorites like Killing me Softly, it's been remixed to make it more contemporary and dance worthy but it's still awesome none the less. (I am quite the fan of 80's music!!) You'll notice some of the most well known and loved dance music was created in the late nineties and early 2000s , the year of the Macarena, or the many songs of Enrique Iglesias still loved for their intensity, depth and loveable beats.

If you spend enough time browsing you'll end up finding neat classics like Staying' Alive and Cher's Believe along with some of Robert Miles' songs. You'll find that the only problem will be, wanting all the ringtones for yourself, when there's really nothing to can do with so many!
