Google Android is Going to be Ahead of the Competition

By Patrick Martin

The technology industry has been buzzing recently about Android and all the possibilities that the mobile platform offers it's users. It seems to be gaining momentum.

The are some large players in the mobile world, very established companies like Apple and Nokia. Android has not been around long but it's already creating quite a buzz.

Android is the big player that everyone seems to be talking about but why is that so?

Android is completely open, any developer can develop an application for an Android mobile device. On other platforms it's not always easy to get an application into their app store and it's just not simple.

Developers can really get involved with Android and that's what Google says the platform is all about, it's all about helping developers produce the best they can.

Android is different from Apple and the iPhone because with the iPhone the hardware and the software are bound together. With Android there are lots of phones that can be used with Android and it's very customizable.

It has been and continues to be important for Google to work with developers to help them produce apps that are the best they can produce and top quality. There is no point in the Android platform having apps that are the same as every other platform and device out there, the challenge is to make them better.

The online world allows developers to make anything for PC's and what Google wanted to do was to make the mobile world similar so that developers could make applications that would work on every mobile phone. This is what helps Google to grow more than anything.

Android is going through a great period at the moment. More phones are coming out and being announced by manufacturers all the time and their app store is the fastest growing mobile app store on the market.

This growth is a really good indicator that Android is serious competition for Apple and the iPhone. Before this growth most people in the industry knew that Android had a chance at success but people weren't quite sure.

There is no doubt that Android is part of the future of the mobile world, but whether it will be number one in a few years time remains to be seen. At the moment it looks promising for Android.

Individual developers are developing their own apps as well as being commissioned by businesses to produce apps that give customers content and games that help users stay engaged with companies not just on their computers but when they are using their mobiles as well.

The place to be at the moment is developing apps for Android. Those looking to learn a skill that is in demand now and will be in demand more in the future would do well to look at Android for inspiration.
