Your Young Child Will Ask For A Cell Phone

By Lanny Houghton

The odds are your young child will come home one day and out of the blue ask for a cell phone. You see, in every classroom of kids, one of them will be the first to get a cell phone and when they do, everyone will want one. Fortunately, there are cell phones that are made specifically for young children and teens.

Cell phones for children should be easy to understand, simple to use, and not have too many features. Programmable buttons are great because you can put in the important numbers you want your child to have access to. You wont have to worry about them having to imput the numbers themselves or find them on a scrolling screen of numbers.

Most people would recommend some sort of pay as you go plan to make sure your child doesn't start out by using too many minutes. There are many prepaid plans to choose from and if you get one of them you, the parent, is still in control. Even if it is just for a year or two, a prepaid plan can help teach your child how to handle the responsibility of having a cell phone.

Parents wanting to protect their children have more technology at their hands than ever before. They can now even give their kids cell phones that have GPS capabilities. The GPS tracker is pretty new but many parents who are scared after hearing so many stories in the news about children being abducted will appreciate this feature. It seems the world is not as safe a place as it once was for kids and this has parents rightfully concerned. Of course the chance of something happening to your child is slim but with the new technology many parents want to be prepared.

Firefly is the name of one of the most popular models of cell phones made especially for children. It has a set of programmable keys and an additional feature where the phone only accepts calls from numbers you program into it. No spam calls or calls from strangers can get through and this is great for a young child. Most kids like this phone because it looks cool and the parents like it because of the useful features and simplicity of use.
