With T-Mobile's recent decision to carry the Motorola Cliq XT. We thought it would be a good idea to check out the main features of the phone. Here's a quick rundown of what we thought its best attributes are:
1) Screen - This is the biggest change to the device. Where the original Cliq had a slider QWERTY keyboard, the XT has a fairly responsive capacitive touch screen display with built-in keyboard entry. The 3.1 inch screen has a resolution of 320 x480 pixels which is a standard, but decent size.
2) Structure - There is a lot to like about the function and feel of the phone. First off, the outer texture of the shell makes it easy to grip and feels nice to the touch. It isn't too big so you can still easily put it in your purse or carry it in your pocket. The ports are all in easy to use positions, micro USB port near the bottom, power and headphone jack near the top. There is also an awesome 2-stage camera. It does a great job of focusing before the picture is taken.
3) Functions - At the bottom of the phone is a trackpad with two buttons on either side. The buttons themselves are textured as well which makes it easy to find them by touch since they are set flush with the frame. The trackpad itself is responsive and quick.
4) Sound - The clarity of the conversation is excellent, just as you would expect from a Motorola device.
5) Battery - Lasts about 24 hours after a normal day of use. It will definitely have to be charged each night, but it is better than the original Cliq battery that lasted only half a day at times.
6) Reception - The XT comes with Wifi which is an added bonus. The reception is very good and the phone itself runs smoothly and quickly.
This is a great phone to get if you have been pondering getting the Cliq. It takes a lot of what made the Motorola Cliq popular and added some good enhancements.
