Consequences of Mobile Phone Radiation

By Byron Ash

Radiation is still one of those mysterious things in the world that people aren't really aware about. It is invisible, it cannot be felt and it can only be known by its effects on its surroundings. Mobile phones are well known emitters of radiation, and a lot of people are concerned by its effects on the human body, most especially since people are attached to it almost everyday of their lives. And also because it is one of the most used radiation emitting devices in today's modern times.

One known effect that radiation can do to substances it comes into contact with is heat generation. The process of creating heat from exposure to radiation is dielectric heating, wherein dielectric pertains to the phenomenon of any living material heats up via the movement of molecules through the influence of a magnetic field. This means that when radiation hits living tissue, the tissue starts to generate heat. Cosmic radiation can thoroughly heat up anything it comes into contact with.

Now, the blunder of this argument is just like the example I gave earlier. Cosmic radiation. This type of radiation is so intense and a few thousands larger than the one emitted by a cell phone. If even radiation of great magnitude as the sun can cause so much discomfort in only a few minutes, how about a cell phone with which we do not even mind? The radiation emitted by a cell phone is so low that most humans rarely feel any discomfort at all.

Although there are people who feel different sensations when handling cell phones. These includes burning and tingling sensations, fatigue in the head, disturbances when sleeping, dizziness, loss of attention or temporary short attention span, problems with memory retention, palpitations in the heart and loss of appetite. These are all through the claimed overuse of cell phones.

Sleeping habits are also considered in the study of radiation from mobile phones. The possibility that they might have some sort of connection was thoroughly dispelled however, after results came out more skewed than ever. There were some groups that returned with results, however it was considered too insignificant at best. Studies became proofs of inconclusion and inconsistency at how cell phone radiation affects people.
