Do You Have Blackberry Syndrome

By Butch Phelps

Blackberry Syndrome: What is it? Does your forearms hurt just below the elbow? Think it is a muscle strain? Has anyone told you it is a strain? Are you protecting it with a brace to stop the pain? Are you tired of the pain?

What is Blackberry Syndrome? Blackberry Syndrome shows up as pain on the top of your forearm just below the elbow.

You can feel the pain on the outside of the elbow. It is hard to sleep at night. Texting too much, typing too much, or gripping things too hard. Tendinitis is a general term for when muscles are pulling from the bone they connect, nothing more.

You must soften the muscles first with massage, then start stretching your forearm.Start at your wrist and slide your thumb up your arm to your elbow. If it hurts when you begin massaging your arm, don't worry the pain will subside. The pain will stop as you soften up your muscles.

You are ready to stretch your arm. As you sitting down. put your elbow on your knee. Making a light fist with the hand on your knee, press down with the other had bending at the wrist. Hold 2 seconds and do 10 reps. If you will breathe while doing the stretch, you will more relaxed. Do this each day until it stops hurting.

Daily stretching stop the the pain. Doing the stretches once a week is most beneficial. Do the stretches 2-3 times per week if you are a heavy texter or typist.

Doing this standing up is okay as well. Just lean your elbow into a wall. Make a light fistwith that hand. Use your other hand to hold your hand down for 2 seconds. Do this 10 times and don't forget to breathe to relax your body. Even though there is some pain at first, it will go away when you have completed the stretch.

Many times people are told to wear a brace to stop the pain. Unfortunately, once the pain stops, you will go back to doing what you were doing that caused the pain in the first place. Now the pain has increased even more, increasing the need for injections, or even surgery. Just think, this little stretch could save you thousands of dollars in medical expenses and a whole lot of pain.
