The Future Of The Internet In The New Millennium

By Damian Papworth

After more than four decades since its beginning, the Internet is still one of the greatest things that humans ever invented. There was nobody back then that could have said what the future of the Internet would look like in forty years, and there is nobody now that can surely envision where the Internet will be in ten years from now. After all these wonderful new things that appeared over the years, is there anything left to discover?

The Internet is continually improving and changing, every moment more and more people contribute to this by participating or by adding something. Even if they do not know it, the users are always shaping and changing this environment. The Internet is the one thing that changed the world to the widest extent and is still doing the same.

With all these new extraordinary and marvelous features that appeared over the years, is there a place for major discoveries or changes in the years to come? Some might think there is nothing else that can be modified or added. But the human mind is a strange device and it appears to have infinite reserves of creativity. So everyone should be prepared for major revolutions waiting to be revealed from time to time.

Things are always in motion in this domain and some new features are waited by everyone, while others appear out the blue. One major development could be related to the integration of the net in every aspect of daily life. Practically, from rocket science to ordering food and from medicine to developing a new personality online.

A new development that is already in motion if about the physical devices used to browse the Internet. From access spots in public places to mobile phones and the new iPad, there seems to be no limit to the future accessibility of the web. These new devices are becoming more popular and the trend seems to make everything digital and as small as possible.

A revolution that everybody is waiting anxiously is the constant increase in speed and accessibility. The speeds are higher than ever thought they could be, and more and more areas across the world gain access. Through the constant development of satellite technology, it can be accessed from remote areas.

The interaction with the online environment or with other users of the Internet could change completely in the future. This is one of the most recent revolutions and it is only beginning. We could theoretically interact with the various feature of the internet only by saying or thinking what we want to do.

The question that appears is: do we know how to live with no Internet? Even if some could not believe such a thing, we would surely learn how to. But our lives became easier with the apparition of the Internet and there is nothing to make it disappear. We cannot surely tell how the future of the Internet will look like. We can only say there is one.
